Back To The Drawing Board

Well looks like Rocky Raccoon is a no go. Margaret is unble to get out of work that week and I wanted to make it about combining a race with some time away together so its now time for plan B, which really hasn't been formulated yet! I'm not really disapointed as I didn't want to waste a week of annual leave in February. Derrick has suggested a couple of snowshoe events that are not too far away so chances are I'll try for one of those. Once the OUSer schedule is out for 2010 I can make more concrete plans for another ultra. Anyways happy running!

Right Back Where I Want To Be

Well I have re-enlisted Derrick to help make a 50 miler out of me and started back to a routine this week. I already feel better as I was feeling a little lost on my runs. I actually really enjoy the training aspect of this adventure and I never feel that it is a chore. This is going to be interesting as the majority of this training is going to be in the cold and the run itself will be in the heat of Texas. I imagine there will be a few longer dread mill runs in order to get my body used to the heat followed up by a sauna ( we have one at work because we are spoiled;)) I also don't think I am going to use this as a progression towards a 100 miler as I still want to do a couple of 50 K's in 2010 if work and the OUSer schedule cooperate and I am also not sure that I have that in me. Then there is the possibility of the Rock and Ice in 2011.......

( I'll be training here......)

(.....and here, Doesn't look like TEXAS)

Back At It T Minus 1 Week

Well I think I am about 97% sure that the next EVENT I will be training for is the Rocky Raccoon 50 Miler in Texas the first week of February 2010.Margaret has a friend from grade school who lives down on the coast so it will be a nice way to combine a visit with a run. I will begin training with Derrick again the first week of October which will give me a nice 4 month build up to it. I know that my training will take place in much different conditions then the run but such is the nature of the beast when you live in Canada ( which I wouldn't trade for anything, LOVE it here). So in the mean time one more week of easy peazey lemon squeezy willy nilly running then back at it.

Post Chirstmas Let Down

UPDATE: Looks like the Unofficial results are out and I finished up in 8th.

I am currently in a bit of a funk. All summer was consumed with goal oriented workouts and a great anticipation. However there is now a bit of a void. I'm feeling physically recovered from my run but still need to get my head around the lack of goal specific training. I'm hoping to get together with Derrick sometime next week in order to have a bit of a debrief and perhaps to ponder what's next.

What do you think should be next?
